Highlighted by the quicksilver line of the Lot, known as the Olt in this part of the valley, Sainte-Eulalie exudes charm. With flowers that have obviously been displayed by enthusiasts, the village was organised over the centuries in semi circles around the central square. As you wander through the narrow medieval streets, you discover original buildings, restored with great care and attention.
The 15th century castle is every bit as elegant as the Renaissance manor house and the house known as «the Tower house», the renovated grain mill turns its wheel amongst the flowers, rich 15th et 16th century residences remind us of the town's prosperity at the time of the traders and craftsmen. Built with pebbles from the Lot, timbered or not, they abound in architectural detail.
The church, which dates back to the 11th century, has a superb Romanesque chevet with three apsidioles. It is famous for its listed furniture (10th century alter table, the bell dating from the Revolution) and for its relics: two thorns from the crown of Christ! These are preserved in a gold-covered wooden reliquary that can only be seen during the Ste-Epine Procession, which takes place every year on the second Sunday in July.
With its wide open spaces and hidden corners of nature, Sainte-Eulalie d'Olt is a Station Verte de Vacances or summer holiday resort, where you can enjoy leisure and sport activities (hiking, swimming, etc.) fishing, visiting artists workshops and craft shops (glaziers, wood turners, furniture painters, basket weavers, painters, glass blowers, jewellery makers, etc.), tasting regional specialities, and also discovering all the wealth of tourist attractions in the surrounding area: Aubrac, Laguiole, Estaing, Conques, the Gorges of the Tarn, the Millau viaduct, etc
